Lockdown can't persist until a validated treatment or vaccine. I take COVID very seriously, and I don't think it's reasonable to pursue herd immunity. But we need to start seeing some solid proposals for the next phase of the war.

If data shows that variolation reduces chance of hospitalization 3-30x (an enormous yet plausible effect size), then anyone who is currently risking getting a large dose from their environment (housemates, grocery runs, etc) can expect it's best to fold their cards and variolate
I have a hard time believing the typical person in an imperfect lockdown (e.g. semi-protected grocery runs, housemates) is getting a particularly large dose. Makes sense for health workers, grocery workers, etc.

Ya if you can live comfortably for a year while well-isolated, you should probably not variolate yet even if hospitalization reduction factor proves as high as 30x. A big fraction of US population, and especially world pop, probably won't be comfortably well-isolated for a year.
