Lockdown can't persist until a validated treatment or vaccine. I take COVID very seriously, and I don't think it's reasonable to pursue herd immunity. But we need to start seeing some solid proposals for the next phase of the war.

Have you done the math on impact of an effective infection rate of 2? Let’s assume the current count is accurate, and that the doubling period is ~4 days. At that rate, the entire population of the US would be infected before Memorial Day. Need to get R < 1.pic.twitter.com/L3edyhpFmG

universal face mask use + mandatory/enforced quarantine for symptomatic people, contacts of those testing positive and people coming in from abroad + testing (viral nucleic acid+serostatus) / contact tracing seems to be better than US-style lockdowns given experience in HK/Taiwan

I have sneaking suspicion that the "contact tracing" part of that is 1. necessary, 2. more than US institutions can manage masks + widespread prophylactic HCQ, maybe?
