/ to the standards of some editors and journalists and these kinds of generalizations put all of the elements of this class in the same level.
NYT does it. Who has better standards? Maybe they do it less than the average publication, but they do it.

Unfortunately I don't believe that *right now* institutions are a guarantee for the quality of the work (besides fact-checking, sure) and that's a problem. Again, I agree with your overall diagnosis, I disagree with the formulation.
