Do you feel like they *will* see consequences or repercussions? I'm not yet convinced they will, outside of my "I literally cannot believe even basic factual information they are barfing" shift.

I think it's caused a spike in the % of the general public who see news media primarily as a storytelling vs. truth-seeking apparatus, skewed heavily toward the most desirable audiences (educated, wealthy, in control of secondary distribution of news through e.g. social media)

This is a great opportunity for some more competent people to create better news orgs. The words and footage of the “just a flu” people are right there. Playing it back at them should harm their credibility immensely.

I had a idea for this, it would involve the same sort of thing I do at Nintil (The news org will pay for mistakes, will set bounties if things are wrong)+ have a publicly available diff of everything they publish. (Like I'm doing here https://commitment.now.sh/ )

What repercussions are they facing beyond flack from
@paulg and those of us who were already raising the alarm? I wish you were right, but so far I see zero repercussions that would change their modus operandi.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

They won't face repercussions. One can talk to their coworkers at FANG companies and still have people insist that this was unpredictable and that you and all the "paranoid" people just got lucky this time and should trust the experts instead.

There is no data to support that Covid19 is more deadly than flu among healthy people under 65.

I'm confused. Isn't this now looking more like flu? All the "best case" scenarios trending into flu territory (25k-60k annual deaths)?
