I follow loads of low-carb advocates, carnivore diet people on Twitter. I'm waiting to see if any of them is hospitalized with COVID. No one yet.

And/or because they’re both corelated with obesity. Obesity is throughline on top 4 comorbidities. It could even be literally the weight of the fat on your chest.

Any virus makes it difficult to manage blood sugar levels for Type 1 diabetics. Likely the same for Type 2. And there are reports hi blood pressure meds may boost ACE2 receptors increasing virus entry into the heart & lungs.

Cardiac and respiratory damage can result just from ventilator use. In its "push" mode, a ventilator creates a negative pressure that damages alveoli: long part of the cost/benefit trade. That it stresses the heart or is associated with encephalopathy should not be surprising.

That's why I'm into the low-carb angle; plenty of people look "healthy", but due to carb consumption, only 12% are *metabolically* healthy. Plenty of "healthy" COVID casualties with undiagnosed prediabetes. Let's see if anyone who is religiously low carb gets hospitalized.
