  This is true for smaller countries like Italy too! Most of the disaster there is a single region: Lombardy. Comparing Italy as a whole with other countries (or with normal Italian flu fatalities) therefore ends up being very misleading.

  NYT is tracking and publishing covid data at the county level. Growth rates and cases per capital vary a ton across the US To your point, we’re missing a lot looking at country level stats
