And yeah, nobody was perfect 300 years ago, but given that Jefferson was writing about the profitability of forcing his slaves to give birth every 2 years I feel comfortable grading on a curve that honestly doesn't need to be terribly generous

She wasn’t a very good mother though. John and Abigail had a beautiful romance and a wonderful marriage forged by a common ambition but they were bad parents. Similar to Ronald and Nancy Reagan.

When I did the tour of her house, they shared that while her husband was in Philadelphia, she was sheltering revolutionaries (at great risk to her and her family), running the estate, and collecting to relay to her husband (critical to the Founders). She was a Heavyweight.
