"Masks don't work for a highly infectious respiratory illness, but also please save them for health workers so they don't get sick" is a pretty dark calibration re: Just Exactly How Stupid Do You Think We Are

I'm not against a universal mask policy, I think that could help. I'm not against someone wearing a mask, it can't hurt! I just dont want to make sure people focus on what I think are the important things - wash hands, don't touch face, consider wearing latex gloves.

Watching people rub their eyes while wearing a mask out in public makes me want to pull my hair out! hahaha

Yes. While WHO/CDC were frantically shilling their "masks don't work" to the public, CDC recommended to nurses and doctors to use 1. Source control (put a surgical mask on the patient) and 2. Wear one yourself (RN/MD)

The NIH agrees with you. If 80% of the population wore masks (even *unfitted* N95 and surgical masks) it would essentially eliminate the outbreak.https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30229968/

@NIH just in case I’m misunderstanding

Honestly, the concept is just too difficult for low-information, pop culture types. They'll argue all day.

No reasonable person with a basic understanding of Virology ever suggested masks don't help at all. There is also a public health dynamic that the layman doesn't understand here. Job duties are also a huge factor. Obviously healthcare workers take priority. How is this hard?
