my single greatest concern (since the beginning) is that the numbers out of china vastly misled people -- not because of their purported accuracy, but because they trended towards "what happens if everyone gets chloroquine-on-diagnosis, antivirals, and early ventilation"

I think a lot of MD thought that as well until they saw it in their own care ! In a way, this is an intelligence failure (due to China oppacity). Or a least a failure of healthcare system to properly interact with intel, since eg US intel had the info but it got nowhere...
