My claim is not that FDA/regulation is perfect here, only that it didn’t arise from perfectly executed science/medicine. We must be particularly rigorous when we are considering rolling something out to our entire population already in the throes of pandemic.
That's not what I'm implying. I'm implying that there's a tradeoff, that we're currently making it the wrong way, and that we'll be continuing to make it the wrong way as long as much of the country cannot get a diagnosis for a deadly infectious illness.

Totally agreed, and I’m sure FDA does too. We’ve just gotta still be careful and deliberate which will feel both frustrating and dangerous in the moment. We need a lot more data AND we need that data to be reliable. Here’s to hoping we get more tests sooner rather than later
