Awareness, precaution, and responsive action do not have to coexist with fear.

(Not presuming Mason's intent) In early days, discussion and calls to action were often framed as panic & fear-mongering and countered with platitudes like the FDR quote. To me this reads "The concerns were valid. Think twice before dismissing reality w/ a bumper sticker."
