I wonder what people think the OTHER option is, besides telling people to stay home? Let everyone get sick? Okay, they are trying that out in Iran. Let’s see if they make it a year without a revolution.
It sucks. It's really, really bad. It's going to be extremely hard on the global economy. I still believe it is likely to be *substantially* better for both humans and economies than the excess deaths (not only from COVID-19, but all treatable causes) that would occur otherwise.

Ultimately, I don't think there is any way to avoid people staying home. They'll either do it because their government tells them to *now,* or they'll do it once they start hearing reports that doctors are letting people die in the hallway.
