Of course, this strategy relies on public health and other government officials, who are equally able to reason about such strategies, not doing the things they obviously should do, perhaps in a gamble to avoid immediate criticism or protect their careers.
The officials who move quickly and decisively are the real heroes, not only because they protect their own people but because they give cover for the cowards to eventually do the right thing too.
There are two strategies but they seem to conflict. 1. Prevent 2. Delay. The preventers are locking down travel and cancelling events. The delayers are encouraging infection through crappy testing requirements, no social distancing peddling virus immunity as a public benefit.
We've not yet seen the effect of the sociopathic Delay strategy in terms of death volume for any virus i know of including #Covid_19 in China. A delay strategy seems to spin the routlette wheel for a lot of old and young folks with health problems. Those people have a voice!
