Even now, very few are tested if they're asymptomatic or have very mild symptoms. We have quite strong evidence that children and teens are at a very, very low risk for severe illness or death, and we should be grateful for that. We can't conclude they're not carrying the virus.
How many school students live with older grandparents / relatives, or are exposed to them in the community? How many might unknowingly pass the virus to their parents who are service workers, who then pass it on further? Children are definitely a vector of transmission.
