Yes. Mayor @LondonBreed, when all SFBA hospitals are over capacity and there are simply no more ventilators for critical patients, every one of your constituents who is mum today will be asking themselves what more could have been done. Close the schools sooner rather than later.https://twitter.com/jenalden/status/1237183189241618432 …

If there is *any* lesson we should be gathering from the global COVID-19 data, it's that you simply will not overshoot with regard to precautions. Nobody has been too early to this thing. If you try to moderate the response, you *will* be on the wrong side of this.

"Will this seem like a strong argument when people who need ventilators in order to breathe cannot get access to a ventilator?" That's where the conversation needs to be today. There is no "I guess that's it, then." We're going to be living through this now.

I deleted my last tweet because I phrased it poorly. I meant to say that we have waited long enough that now closing schools is not enough. We need more extreme measures or we need to accept the implications of it becoming endemic. There isn’t a middle ground.

It's an understandable impulse now that containment is off the table in Seattle and likely SF. But it's now "flatten the curve" time; we must make every effort to slow the spread such that recoveries vacate beds & ventilators quickly enough to prevent deaths for lack of care.
