tbf, I have no skin in the game. I don't "date" in the traditional sense because it has *never* been an enjoyable or effective way for me to find someone to be in a relationship with. I'm relaying information based on a lot of tears cried onto my shoulder. Take it or leave it.

I'm quite interested in culture design and effective cultures, and these types of questions are relevant. I understand if you as someone not working on that wouldn't care.
I think the more useful question is "who/when/where does directness/indirectness serve?" I don't think this is a situation where either is just plainly *bad,* but different people have different needs and incentives and concerns.
