I mean, if you want to blame capitalism for something like skirting animal welfare to meet demand for cheap meat, OK. Let's talk. But half a second of reflection should suggest to you that the market is probably not demanding that airlines fly empty "ghost planes" across Europe

It's just lazy thinkers equating "all detrimental aspects of the extant system" with "capitalism" probably because their schools taught them capitalism is the root of all evils.

I think this one is right. It's somewhat unsurprising that people who consider capitalism evil also don't really know what it is or how its central ideas relate to competing systems.

But it is a rational capitalist choice to fly the ghost planes - to keep the slots for longterm revenue. I learned at highschool about grain producers dumping surplus inthe ocean to preserve price, rather than feeding the poor. Thats pretty much the same thing.

I agree with your initial take, but here you stray & your own tell is "probably not demanding". We need to unpack this more to understand the system. What market forces led to rules that included "or risk losing them to a competitor"? I don't know.
