If you blame "capitalism" for every harebrained regulation the EU rolls out it's going to start looking very stupid very fast, yes, correct

I mean, if you want to blame capitalism for something like skirting animal welfare to meet demand for cheap meat, OK. Let's talk. But half a second of reflection should suggest to you that the market is probably not demanding that airlines fly empty "ghost planes" across Europe

TIL Capitalism gave us mandatory cookie warnings

I hate those soooooo much. Especially sites that cover the entire page to tell me something every other site has told me. There should be a flag I can turn on saying, yes I know how websites work.

Most people who say capitalism is bad wouldn't even be able to explain what it is. Wokeism: "You don't need to know what it is as long as you know it's bad."

I’m waiting for Europe to regulate the regulations of the regulations and then ban the internet and then charge a tax to use a government controlled online dictionary. Nothing seems to make sense there.

In the sense that "real capitalism has not yet been tried," maybe real capitalism and even-roughly-democracy are not actually compatible. Seems to me like this is the same kind of predictable failure mode as corruption under extreme state allocation, if not the same severity.

On one hand, this take has a point. On the other hand, nobody believes that "pure capitalism" where there is constant negotiation over every transaction will ever occur---it's a mirage just like pure communism.

There doesn't need to be constant negotiation over every transaction. Industries set standards and pro forma ways of doing things. The standards and forms must be *negotiable*, though, and govt. rent seeking via regs don't allow this.
