NYT Daily ep on the coronavirus is *fascinating* — just a nonchalant convo about how this looks like another 1918 flu. For a lot of listeners, I'd guess this was the moment they realized that the tone of media elites would be roughly the same with or without mass graves looming
AFAICT, this is the first time anyone affiliated with a mainstream news org came out and said "hey, when this is all over you're probably going to know some people who died from it." I think most people were expecting brighter red flags from the media long before it came to that.
It was a good episode overall, but that discussion at the end was disturbing, saying that it is unethical to own face masks.
Felling particularly blessed for twitter information this past month. Should things keep the current course, this is going to be a big show for citizen-led journalism.
The lack of red flags is troubling. A giant red flag will strike more fear/panic then a gradual red flag increase. The mass panic might be worse than the virus.
