Prior to today, suspected COVID-19 cases in the US didn't meet criteria for CDC tests unless they'd visited China or had contact w/ a confirmed COVID-19 case. The worst case scenario is that some — or many — early cases were missed, because travelers were asymptomatic, had only mild symptoms, did not seek medical care, or were misdiagnosed. And those cases further spread the virus. This may be precisely what has happened.
Nonstop flights are still running from Milan to NYC as we speak. No screening occurring.
How do we monitor it without tests? There's got to be signs other than test results. Like hospital capacity.

KCMO Health Dept were watching 10 people; after 14 days of checking their temps 2x/day, 2 were said to be cleared and are no longer being monitored.
