Since one of the "community organizations" that protested the development itself engages in development, and plans to acquire and develop this very property, one wonders if the opposition to the project had more to do w/ unfair competition than actual societal concern.

assuming this is relevant: i am uncertain about the talking points re new housing bringing down the cost of housing. my impression is the vicinity often becomes upcycled while ownership becomes an bullet on some diversified portfolio.
