With serious outbreaks in South Korea, Iran & Italy, it's likely the "narrowing window" for global containment has closed. If you're age >50 or live with someone >50, esp near a major metro area, you should seriously consider lifestyle changes to minimize risk assuming exposure

If you're >50 years of age + in poor health, make a plan for reducing risk of exposure within your existing routine and, if possible, tackle existing risks that increase your reliance on the medical system. Assume that a global pandemic may overwhelm the medical infrastructure

At the risk of sounding alarmist but in the interest of honesty, I do think it wise to sharply limit plans for air travel and large public gatherings, and to (more or less) limit smaller gatherings and visits to public spaces. Get supplies for managing illness/holing up at home

If there's anything you'd need to manage 2-3 weeks very sick at home, assume that it may not be available when you need it and put a kit together now. If there are friends or family members who regularly rely on you, also account for them
