Prof Iwata claims that passengers are moved through the ship with no precautions between end points, that crew eat in "dirty zones" with their gloves still on, that some of the people working w/ passengers no longer take measures to protect themselves bc they don't see the point
in many ways a cruise ship is an ideal environment for spreading an infection tho, not super surprising they couldn't stop it
A cruise ship that's operating the way cruise ships usually do, sure, but that generally means things like "close quarters contact with other passengers" and "communal meals and washrooms"
I would be curious what the positive or negative pressure ventilation situation was. I think, at least on land, air comes in through the hallway and gets sucked into a vent in the bathroom, in a lot of centrally ventilated hotels & apt bldgs? I wonder about ship situation.

Hallway ac could do it. Most rooms I seen had their own heat/AC units.
1/ many (or roommates) likely had it before guidance-to-isolate given 2/ a reason winter is 'flu season' is more time indoors (concentrated, shared air, low sunlight) - ship (& China) quarantines making that aspect *worse* 3/ still "only" 454 cases of 3700 (12%), & 0 fatalities
Expected infection rate over the next year is estimated to reach 60% of all humans I heard today from a few news sites. Wonder if the ship will reflect that. Isn't there a cruise ship in/near Italy dealing with the same thing?
