Lots of the time people decline interviews because they have already said what they have to say 30 times. But 500 media outlets all want them to say it - kind of like the row of photographers at a basketball game all taking the same photos

Before Twitter, I didn't have enough information to realize that journalists were not rationally motivated, and that beside the true believers were also narcissists in pursuit of power dramas.

They have staff that handles media. Those staffs are pretty big. They have time for media relations and answering questions, they just dont want to do it. If a reporter cant "fuck up his relationships in the industry", how is the reader supposed to trust him?
