I don’t think that group wants to pay for access to better news. That exists They want the news that is free and available to the masses to paint them and their companies positively. Unfortunately, positive news doesn’t garner the readership to be free This causes the friction
Nobody needs positive press to speak to users. Sometimes they need it to speak to regulators, e.g. to give a read on user sympathies to sycophants. It's getting harder and harder to talk to CEOs vs PR faces for a reason; there are better alternatives now

This is a pretty crucial distinction, by the way. There's a big difference between desiring positive press on product and desiring to not be functionally labeled a moron, racist or sociopath in one's capacity as X for company Y
