My youngest daughter is 3 years old, can read/write her ABC's, can use a computer, login, has her own scratch login, plays music (keyboard, drums, recorder), draws on the walls, and she does miss her mom, but loves being with her dad.
I'm not anti-dad. There is an advantage to being the parent in whom fetal development occurred. This is likely true for all social mammals. Lots of interesting studies on e.g. voice/touch recognition at birth. Mom-specific benefits taper off; most prominent in first couple years.

Lots of dads/moms who used surrogate services/adopted parents do great, and their kids do great. Newborns aren't ideological, they just respond well to familiarity. Making the jump to dad/grandma/etc as primary caregiver works a lot better than a rotating lineup, e.g. at daycare
