, and I'm so tired of the anti dad b.s. kids do better in school and afterwards in single dad households, but there are so few of us because of ancient ideas about roles. I also cook badass food and clean.

People need $ so they get jobs, but half of what they make goes to childcare so they have to let strangers raise their children in order to make half a paycheck.

Some of us made it work without sending kids to daycare at all, but there were definitely trade-offs. Working as a dev definitely made it easier to go single-income, also lower your expectations of what you can have/do. Kids are amazing, and it's worth it.

I think what we balk at is largely the part about the government making your decisions about reproduction for you. On the other hand, extrapolate the historical trend. Pre-IndRev, the home contained work, healthcare, childcare, etc. Now we have specialized workplaces, %

hospitals, childcare facilities. Extrapolate a bit, and the home will only contain one function: that of a dormitory. I think this is as inevitable as specialized hospitals, workplaces, etc. were inevitable---the efficiency gains from specialization are overwhelming. %
