the assumed context for "move fast and break things" is generally a big pot, open competition & a full hide in the game; the idea of an explicitly left-wing tech co operating as a subsidiary of a political non-profit is anathema & the nerds who funded it should have known better

i don't think that they've internalized "move fast and break stuff" as much as they have "fake it til you make it"
this whole thing makes me despondent because "build and roll out an important system in one go, where failure has serious consequences, because you're already sure your assumptions are correct" is, to my mind, exactly the behaviour the move fast maxim is meant to warn against
To me it’s a “buzzword” that means “the current strategy is to value growth over stability/reduction of technical debt”. Which is 100% a valid strategy in many situations. Media seems to think it’s how every software team lives and breathes.
