In ordinary play as you know it from childhood, how often did you see a need for a teacher - as you describe teacher as needed? If play is work & learning for kids, it's also for the successful adults, and if so what if any is the boundary between simulation and nonsimulation?

Where do I describe a teacher as needed for play?

this is good, I liked the point about how children can't be made to play with an imposed objective

the school assignments I always despised the most were the faux creativity ones that attempt to force you to discover something by experimenting. when you know already it's just doubly insulting

Good article! Learning is best done through play. How much control should a teacher have over the parameters of a playful environment? With no control at all, the fear is that children will gravitate towards video games and other products advertised to them.

Thank you for writing this excellent article! I think a lot of the lessons here apply to adults as well. I see a lot of people around me (myself included) having to relearn how to be curious and how to play as adults :(
