And then... what would a high valuation of the degree mean?

But seriously: A boarding school designed to enable projects, sort of an incubator making sure that people don't drop out of school AND try cool projects with possible impact, this sounds like fun for teachers, advisors, and kids. (Regardless if your initial posting was a joke)

Why not both-in-one?

There is some sort of school like this. They have crafts and a lot of hands on training, and projects that lead to real life businesses.

Interesting! There's incredible overlap between those ideas — funding kids toward their goals at school or outside of it. Being present as a teacher/role model & crafting a learning space.
-
The VC element is especially interesting and new to my mind. It could help fund the school, rather than relying purely on student tuition?

I beg you to start a school. Create the new model for effective education. https://twitter.com/jsargent88/status/1104808095329542144?s=21 …https://twitter.com/JSargent88/status/1104808095329542144 …

Trying to decide if you're serious. If so I want to talk to you. We started the school part (
@prendalearn ) but I have been obsessing over this paper@tylercowen mentions where financial aid + coaching is the secret to ending poverty (my words, not Duflo/Bannerjee's). -
Anyway we are finding ourselves in the coaching business with 10-student microschools and empowered learners. But we don't give them any money...yet
