It's incredible to realize that throughout most of history, the idea of working hard, being scrappy and generative, and moving upward was considered broadly vulgar — by *all* classes. In a sense, so was money, for the very reason that anyone can use it.

That is why all this "social net" bullshit in Europe is actually just a disguised elitism of the privileged. They don't want to see a "commoner" getting rich. They want everyone but politicians to be "equal".

I've long felt that economic freedom is the most fundamental freedom, and yet we are indoctrinated to view it as vulgar. We want people to work, to value themselves in what they earn and yet we have obscene, invasive taxes on labor.
