On the flip side, I think I also lack the appropriate degree of charity for views expressed by people I don't particularly like or just don't know well. I assume these are pretty standard human failings, but they're actually pretty awful
I noticed this very sharply with Andrew Yang and M4A. Was against, Yang came out in favor. I revised to "against, but I acknowledge one benefit I previously didn't" and was stressed when talking about it. He's since retreated to a version I don't mind and it's simple again.
