"Wine caves" is a strong meme for Current Day, both for the socialist-leaning left in earnest and their opposition in satire, because it so clearly illustrates that the perceived enemy is not necessarily power, but luxury itself.

It is a metaphor for American corruption, not an attack on fine wine. America is corrupt, and everyone knows it. Whether it is Eric Weinstein's 'gated institutions' corruption, or a more mainstream left-wing "money in politics" critique, - America is corrupt. Sorry but it is.

Making a fairly accessible, enjoyable evening into a metaphor for American corruption is not only stupid, but so harmful to the communal psyche that I will fight it tooth and nail to the end. I'm not sorry for that. Feel free to see yourself out.
