"Wine caves" is a strong meme for Current Day, both for the socialist-leaning left in earnest and their opposition in satire, because it so clearly illustrates that the perceived enemy is not necessarily power, but luxury itself.

Mason, we shouldn't be afraid to use the term 'wine cave'. Income inequality actually *is* grotesque. If Yang's comments about automation are taken seriously, then some measure of redistribution has to happen. 'Wine cave' is a good way to ridicule those who can't see the problem.
I can have a "wine cave" experience for $75. I can drink expensive wine when I visit friends who collect wine. If these are things you believe I ought to be ridiculed for, there is no "we" here.

It is a metaphor for American corruption, not an attack on fine wine. America is corrupt, and everyone knows it. Whether it is Eric Weinstein's 'gated institutions' corruption, or a more mainstream left-wing "money in politics" critique, - America is corrupt. Sorry but it is.

Making a fairly accessible, enjoyable evening into a metaphor for American corruption is not only stupid, but so harmful to the communal psyche that I will fight it tooth and nail to the end. I'm not sorry for that. Feel free to see yourself out.
