By the way, you and the others covering this had every opportunity to point out that this case was indeed legitimate, and that it's awful that even someone as rich as Terry Bollea had to rely on a random Peter Thiel vendetta in order to not get priced out of the court system.

If it had been near-precisely the same content under near-precisely the same circumstances, but with J-Law as the victim and Breitbart as the publisher, the usual suspects would be clamoring for the book to be thrown & there'd have been little or no interest in the funding issue.
Not saying Gawker deserved it 100% but let's be real - they dug their own grave there.The hypocrisy is what gets me. It tells me that if I'm ever a victim of some heinous thing like this, whether I look like what a victim "ought" to look like to the left — and who it is that steps up to help me — are more important than what was done to me and who is responsible.

I wouldn't necessarily expect any better from the right, but it's the left that has been riding a high horse for decades on the presumption that it would stand up for victims of sexual mistreatment regardless of who they were or whether they seemed sympathetic. Bullshit.
