We would be in a very different place if the Democrats had made their peace with Trump's election and then evidence of impeachable offenses had emerged. As it stands I can't shake the sense that we are watching the republic come apart before our eyes.

All governments should be impeached if they are corrupt, including this one. This isn't hard.
I think Bret and I would agree that the offenses we're looking at are impeachable, and perhaps also that governments have an obligation to impeach when such offenses come to light. The problem is the cultural/media climate and the expectations it's creating.

From my perspective, I think most Democrats know impeachment isn’t a good political strategy for beating Trump in 2020. I think if Trump wins, the only reference to impeachment will be that it wasn’t worth it.
