I can only pray that if I had to go up against a massive media corporation that refused to take down a tape of me in bed that I didn't even know existed prior, *someone* would help me pay for a decent legal team so I wouldn't be forced into a settlement.

I get that you assholes don't like Peter Thiel, but do you really loathe him so much that you'll advertise open apologism for this kind of blatant sexual violation to get a dig in? Jesus Christ, get some professional help

For all the soap-boxing over the importance of sexual agency and privacy, equal access to the courts, and not attacking a victim on the basis of their background or character, all of it went down the drain when there was a chance to take a shot at Peter Thiel. Just stop already.

This was truly a low point for the left and it STILL. SOMEHOW. LIVES. ON. Are you people just actually stupid, or just completely unprincipled?

I'd hoped that at some point in a few years, someone who'd thrown some cheap hooks in the early days would wake up, sit up in bed and say, "Golly gee, I don't actually think it's OK to show people fucking against their will even if I don't personally like them." BUT FUCKING NOPE.

So good job, you absolutely hopeless ethical nightmare creatures. Keep telling us all about who in tech we're supposed to hate next, like you have so much as a goddamn toe to stand on after this shitShow this thread

I know exactly what Thiel did, I researched and wrote about it while it was happening. Did you do that? Thiel funded lawsuits against Gawker for a decade trying to find one to put them out of business. Does that sound fair to you?
-
I know Thiel paid legal fees. I know he had a vendetta against Gawker. So fucking what? Gawker was so horrifically disregarding of this guy's right to sexual privacy that a jury awarded $25m in punitive damages. Would you have preferred Gawker successfully kept this out of court?

The term "nuisance" didn't have anything to do with the merits of the case, it was about Thiel's desire to use it as a stick to drive a company out of business. But it it makes you feel better to call me a sick fuck, please go right ahead
-
Oh, fuck off. There aren't a lot of ways to misinterpret "nuisance lawsuit." You know exactly what you're doing, and you don't care. I hope you stay far away from people who have been victimized in this fashion.
