If someone is actually trying to hurt you, a 50-100% weight + strength advantage is not something you're going to render moot with technique. Plan A is to draw public attention & escape. Plan B is to go for the eyes/nose/throat, return to Plan A as soon as possible

The people I know who actually fight speak highly of krav maga & Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and everything else comes with major caveats. I don't think it's a coincidence that krav maga comes from the Israeli military, which has a period of compulsory service for both men & women

As a general rule you are correct, plan A should be the default for everyone, plan B however is not as effective as you may think, especially against an aggressive attacker. The key point from the original post is controlling distance. If you are close enough to attack...

...eyes/nose/throat then you are close enough for your attacker to attack your eyes/nose/throat. In that circumstance you need to have some awareness of technique or inside control. Being aware of how to choke someone out in such a position would be a good example.
