If someone is actually trying to hurt you, a 50-100% weight + strength advantage is not something you're going to render moot with technique. Plan A is to draw public attention & escape. Plan B is to go for the eyes/nose/throat, return to Plan A as soon as possible

The people I know who actually fight speak highly of krav maga & Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and everything else comes with major caveats. I don't think it's a coincidence that krav maga comes from the Israeli military, which has a period of compulsory service for both men & women

What you just described is exactly the process any decent martial arts master would teach for such a situation, and not just for women. I've been both a student and master, and I've been mugged 5 times, only once did I have to resort to physicality and it wasn't anything flashy.
