(Also: nasty stuff does happen to me on the street more often than for most. IMO, this is partly because I walk vs. take transit whenever feasible & partly because lone women do attract aggression from the worst people. One look at me and you know I'm not going to beat you up.)

I am surprised by the matter-of-fact tone of this statement. Alarmed, in fact. I appreciate it somewhat because you still bravely choose your freedom over safety but I am rather indignant that you are subject to it at the frequency that you are.
