The replies demonstrate (1) how far we've departed from a nuanced, honest conversation about hiring does, can or should work, and (2) that blatant schadenfreude and frankly sociopathic behavior is part of an accepted toolkit herehttps://twitter.com/weswinham/status/1203762269341016064 …

That's the final equilibrium state, sure. It takes entrepreneurs to go out and arbitrage that misvaluing of labor to get there. That takes time and leaves a trail of unfairness and sub-optimal outcomes in the meantime.

The reaction to this tweet is much more interesting than the tweet. First wave- Liar! Second wave- Actually, it's good that companies do this and it happens all the time! https://twitter.com/jezhumble/status/1203428916452397056 … Hiring is hard. Having nuanced diversity conversations might be 10x harder

Effective diversity and inclusion makes teams more successful and can be done in fair and ethical ways. The status quo ain't ethical. Some proponents want to pretend there's no costs. There are costs. They're just worth paying.
