FWIW, I'm pretty sure I've got my own massive blind spots and malware with root access; I'm thinking about this stuff because I'm hoping there's some way to systemically clean house from inside the system

It's partly logical because media is different to a corporation that sells hardware. The leader's bias matters more.

Yeah, I don't think it makes any difference to progressives what decisions the CEO of Smith and Wesson makes, within reason. But they care a lot about all of Facebook's actions, and feel like there's high variance between a leader aligned with them and one opposed.
