Yurp, I actually used "chapel dictator" in recent conversations. Not to be dismissive of my roommates, who are awesome, but AFAICT democracy works very poorly in most small group situations and consensual, conditional & easily escaped dictatorships actually work better

yea I think it works fine as long as the group is still small enough that you can actually hear everybody out. then you get to have a higher decision-making velocity than if each person had to talk to every other person and fumble and stumble over procedure
