How many of our current issues are the product of a problem (say, police excesses) going unaddressed for so long, and seeming so intractable, that people who want them addressed feel as though they have less and less incentive to be reasonable in their demands (like this)?

This'd go further with someone who isn't an actual victim with a perp currently in custody awaiting his hearing. Nationally Televised Case X where police shot at some poor kid with a toy gun/cell phone is horrendous and inexcusable, but we still need a functioning legal system.
