I wonder how much of the general SF street chaos is literally just meth https://www.sfdph.org/dph/files/MethTaskForce/Meth%20Task%20Force%20Final%20Report_FULL.pdf …pic.twitter.com/DyetLcsLDp

Kinda just want to reiterate that HALF of the people who wind up in SF's primary psychiatric ER are there for reasons directly related to being high on meth
Eventually we'll have to confront the fact that we don't really know how to effectively treat meth addiction. Some people recover, and most people don't. Even residential rehab results in only a 13% success rate for continuous abstinence over 3 years https://www.researchgate.net/publication/224916528_Evaluating_the_impact_of_community-based_treatment_options_on_methamphetamine_use_Findings_from_the_Methamphetamine_Treatment_Evaluation_Study_MATES …pic.twitter.com/96w9FRxW3W
This highlights how misguided it is for a city to ignore dealers & try to make up for it with treatment accessibility. Recovery isn't in the cards for most people who develop a genuine addiction, which is exactly why it makes for a great business for the people selling this shit
It would be interesting if there was a figure for what percent had no drugs in their system (since the above stats overlap in individuals)
It's a vastly more powerful—and dangerous—drug than it was a just few years ago, because of the cartels The purity of Mexican-produced meth surged from 39% in 2007 to 97% todayhttps://twitter.com/skepticaliblog/status/1104606989240328193 …
Cocaine cheaper than rent in SF?
If this is real, sad.
So did they become homeless from using meth or did they use meth because they are homeless?
Probably the former. Then SF’s enabling policies help drive them into an abysmal point of no return.
