Some folks RTing this w/ comments about car culture, which aren't broadly unfair, but - you don't just accidentally flip a car after this intersection at the legal speed of 25 or 30 - cars are useful here if you need to travel at certain times of day/night, it's not a safe area

Cars are statistically very dangerous & tons of accidents involve the sort of "driver error" that you're probably lying to yourself about if you think you're immune to it, but... I think it's fair to say that whatever happened here was closer to The Fast and the Furious territory

That's nuts. I think the speed limit for both cross streets is 25 or 30. It's a super residential area with lots of pedestrians with kids, people reversing out of their driveways onto the road, etc.
