At that scale it might make sense. Recently talked to a pretty savvy enterprise that expanded into the cloud a couple of years ago, but they had still kept their old DCs, even expanding them with specialized hardware, because they were so cheap in comparison.

Cloud oftentimes is not the right answer, especially for large companies. Hybrid is a great compromise (“buy the base, rent the spike”) but very complex to implement well. For enterprises, Cloud is not about architecture or outsourcing. It’s about velocity of procurement.
