But "capitalism", as they understand the word, is unconstrained, hyper-reagan capitalism; it's the type of capitalism that is allowed to make very large profits from human suffering, and where there is no safety net for the most vulnerable people.

But since you mentioned history: I hope we'll also recall the history of the red scare in the u.s.: the fear of people associating with communist parties in the u.s. turned out to be more damaging than the communist parties themselves. We don't need another round of McCarthyism.
Oh ffs. I said "if you don't like communism...," you replied that nobody disagrees with that, & now we're somehow on McCarthyism. I think communism is a bad idea. I think some people disagree, because they've explicitly said so. By no means would I want to persecute them for it.
