I think it's vital, at this point, to consider the distinct possibility that "China wins" is the default global outcome when considering what kind of country the US should be politically & economically. If you don't like communism *or* you don't like ethnostates, that matters

"Win"? More like "challenge the US as the only superpower" really. The US has military bases all over the world, has abusive law extraterritoriality rules and uses these laws to ransom its allies' strategic companies / protect its economy. US will be fine... For bad reasons.
While a dominant superpower is currently a dominant superpower, the reasons for that do look like reasons *that this will always be the case.*

It's more about that "Win" word. Like it's some kind of binary state. I think the US dominance is not binary. It might continue to fade away, sure (and other power poles are hoping for that) but not disappears due to some internal policies. Even after decades. imho.
