I'm increasingly coming around on the idea of a revenue-neutral carbon tax, but given that it probably would dramatically increase food prices — offset by gov-issued rebates to consumers — I think there are probably some important questions for paycheck-to-paycheck families
Like, will checks still *definitely* go out during a government shutdown? Are regions far from a diverse local agriculture industry going to suffer disproportionately? How will food banks and other extant hunger solutions be affected? How will the homeless get their checks?
Obv this is just a microcosm of a broader landscape of production & product movement. It's a good one, I think(?) because it's critical to human wellbeing & a lot of livelihoods. Plenty of foods aren't produced at any real volume in the continental US
excuse me, but where can I find more of this "I'm both for and against this idea for XYZ reasons, and think it's worth debate to figure out if we can get around the drawbacks" type of discussion?
