At the risk of alienating literally everyone here, I think abortion in the first few months of pregnancy should be widely available, but I don't feel like it's something to celebrate when someone comes in knowing that the alternative is permanent poverty and estrangement

Certainly not. Adoption will always be an option. Please do not undermine the fact that you are murdering a baby to put it bluntly. Abortion is an practice that should only be rarity.
