Illegal immigrants aren't a threat to Beto, or anyone much like him. But the idea that they're not a threat to *anyone's* livelihood is a luxury belief, attained by accessing education, experience & credentials that are generally off-limits to anyone in the country illegally

Of course, you can acknowledge this and still be in favor of a humane legal system re: immigration, and even more legal immigration (as I am). It just doesn't help to pretend that there can't be winners *and* losers as the result of net-positive policies

Politics must be incredibly tough. Still it’s a wonder why *almost all* politicians seem so rudimentary. Complex problems require thorough plans, not pandering sound bites. I’m not sure what this is more of... disappointing or the same I see

To be honest, even as a moderate, after the fiasco with the southern border, we have to reduce illegal immigration, but I also don't like the idea of effectively using an honor system of some kind, so I kind of flipped on the wall. If it will reduce immigration so there's...
